11 April 2008: The First Minister’s Visit
The First Minister, Alex Salmond, visited the Library whilst on his trip to the College to officially open the new Fàs centre. The First Minister spent time chatting with library staff before heading downstairs to view the Special Collections.
The College Librarian, Christine Cain, and Donald MacCormack told the First Prime Minister the history of the collections held at the Sabhal Mòr Ostaig Library and how unique and important a resource the collections are to the field of Gaelic scholarship.
The First Minister was very impressed and interested in what he saw and it was a fine and fitting end to a special day in the history of the College.
