Tutor: Eilidh Scammell
On this course you will learn about playing as a group, which will include a mixture of arranging, harmonising, accompaniment and some basic music theory. The course is open to and would benefit from a variety of instruments, and instruction will be adapted to suit each participant and their instrument. Singers are also welcome on this course.
Hailing from Inverness, Eilidh Scammell is a traditional fiddle player with a wealth of experience in playing, composing and teaching music. A former pupil of Karen Steven and ‘Blazin’ Fiddles’ Allan Henderson, Eilidh tutors for Fèisean nan Gàidheal and was a music lecturer for North Highland College where she worked with both groups and solo students at all levels, in Gaelic and English. Eilidh has performed on many a stage and is currently on her Honours Year of Sabhal Mòr Ostaig’s BA Gaelic and Traditional Music Course.
The course will be delivered in an informal, aural manner, however a basic ability to read music would be of an advantage, but is not essential. Materials for reference will be distributed throughout the course.
