Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the southern peninsula of Sleat on the Isle of Skye, Sabhal Mòr Ostaig has been running short courses in the Gaelic language and traditional music for over 35 years. The College has an international reputation and attracts students from across Scotland and the world over who come year after year to enjoy a week of culture, tuition and a good old cèilidh.
This year the College is delighted to welcome back Fergie MacDonald, Christine Primrose and Alasdair Fraser among others, and is pleased to offer new courses on the Gaelic place names of Scotland, Gaelic translation, and creative writing and drama with the acclaimed Gaelic writer Alasdair a’ Bhocsair. Keep an eye open too for a unique outreach course to be held in Flodigarry this year.
Five day courses run at Easter and throughout the summer months, with the option of staying on campus with views across the Sound of Sleat. The College also has a Gaelic-medium childcare facility for parents wishing to attend courses.
