Job Opportunities at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig


Photo of receptionist at the CollegeSabhal Mòr Ostaig is a national centre of excellence for the Gaelic language and Scotland's only Gaelic college, offering a progressive programme of courses from further education to degree and postgraduate qualifications. Courses are also offered at the College's outreach centre, Ionad Chaluim Chille Ìle, on the island of Islay. Sabhal Mòr Ostaig is an active partner of the UHI Millennium Institute and the responsible partner for the Gaelic and Related Studies Scheme.

Situated on the Sleat peninsula on the Isle of Skye, Sabhal Mòr Ostaig is the largest employer in the south of Skye, with approximately 60 full-time staff and approximately 80 part-time staff.

The College actively supports staff in their professional development, offering a comprehensive staff development programme including training, research and scholarship. Employees can also take advantage of development activities offered through the UHI Millennium Institute.

Research Professor: Gaelic Language Research, Planning & Policy

This new senior academic post off­ers an outstanding opportunity to play a leading role in Gaelic language policy and planning research and to project this research on to the international stage at the highest level.

Salary will be at professorial level

This multi-institutional project receives funding from the Scottish Funding Council, Highlands & Islands Enterprise and Bòrd na Gàidhlig, as well as the partner Universities and Colleges.
