Course Content
Throughout this bilingual 5 day course, participants will engage in a series of workshops and discussions with Sabhal Mòr Ostaig's Drama Artist in Residence, Artair Donald.
Individual and group exercises will be used to explore acting techniques. Through improvisation and contemporary texts you will explore acting techniques and methodologies.
The course also aims to provide performing opportunities and discuss the role of Gaelic language in Scottish Theatre.
Suitable for anyone with an interest in Gaelic and Drama, the course will provide a challenging and supportive environment in which to explore and develop acting skills.
Course Aims
This intensive course is designed to develop performing ability. It may be useful for anyone wishing to pursue further training or a career in this field. By the end of the course participants should have;
• Gained a greater knowledge of Acting skills and techniques
• Examine acting techniques for developing acting skills
• Had the opportunity to work creatively in the Gaelic language
• Had the opportunity to perform to live audience
• Gained greater confidence in approaching acting and text
• Discuss and be aware of acting opportunities in the Gaelic field

Students should arrive at the College on Sunday afternoon/evening to be ready for the course start Monday morning.
Course Leaders:
Artair Donald
Artair was brought up on the beautiful Isle of Tiree and has been acting professionally for over 20 years. He has performed on Radio, Stage, television and Film. He is known for his regular appearances as Coinneach in the Gaelic TV soap Machair (STV) for over 8 years and more recently, appearing on Rab C. Nesbitt and Eilbheas (BBC Scotland). In addition to broadcast, he has also been working in theatre particularly Gaelic theatre development for many years and most recently Cartoon Theatre, touring throughout Scotland with a newly created show in Gaelic.
Artair is Artistic Director of the Gaelic Drama summer school run by Feisean nan Gaidheal and runs a Gaelic youth theatre in Glasgow.
