In this course you will learn about playing, arranging and accompaniment on the Clàrsach in Highland and traditional music. Ingrid Henderson from Lochaber has been teaching the Clàrsach for over 15 years having learnt herself from the world renowned harpist Savourna Stevenson. She has performed on stages throughout the world as a solo artist or with bands such as 'Cliar' and she has also won the BBC Radio 2 Young Tradition Award whilst in her early teens.
As part of this course, there will be a chance to work with the singing class which is taking place at the College during the same week under the direction of world renowned Gaelic singer, Maighread Stewart. This will allow for collaborative work and a chance to accompany the singers.
It is important to note that this course is designed for students competent at playing at an intermediate level and above. It is also recommended that you bring your own instrument with you in order to take part in the course.
Here are some comments from the course in 2012:
- “A very friendly course with great atmosphere”

- “Really enjoyed it and found it very beneficial. I will be coming back next year.”
