Originally from California but with Nova Scotia and Morar connections, Gabe now lives near his ancestral home in Arisaig in the West Highlands of Scotland. He was twice winner of the Junior US National Scottish Fiddle Championship by the age of seventeen and is also a product of Alasdair Fraser's fiddle camps and studied under the left handed Lochaber fiddler, Angus Grant Sr. During his time in Scotland, Gabe has also earned a BA in Traditional Music at Glasgow's R.S.A.M.D (now RCS) and has played with many bands and musicians but is most recognised as the fiddler from the successful Gaelic group Dàimh.
His versatility as a tutor has seen him highly sought after, having taught at festivals and higher education establishments including the University of Limerick. Gabe also teaches fiddle regularly in Lochaber. His playing in Europe, North America and even Nigeria has earned him the reputation of being one of the hottest tickets in the fiddling world and is much sought after for playing for dances on the west coast and the islands.
This course is for students competent at playing at an intermediate level and above. Participants are advised to bring their own fiddle with them.
