Traditional Music on the Piano with Mhairi Hall
This piano course is aimed at people who are competent/advanced on the piano, playing any genre of music. A rough estimate is Grade 5 upwards.
During the week participants will focus on playing Scottish music on the piano. This will be taught by ear however, music will be provided at the end of the week. Participants will explore different rhythms, ornamentation and making the piano sound ‘Scottish’. Participants will learn about different chords, voicing, arranging and how to develop your music and technique. By the end of the week we will have some unique piano pieces, which will compliment your individual style.
The course will also cover different accompaniment techniques. Again, we will explore different chords, rhythms, patterns and riffs, and how to back tunes spontaneously in a session and gain confidence in your playing. Accompanying should be imaginative, creative and fun… let’s do it pianists!
