Sleat Singing Circle
10/03/2012 - Tharscabhaig HallSinger’s Circle to be established – firstly at Tarskavaig Hall on Sat 10th March, and henceforth to other community halls/centres throughout the Sleat peninsula, on a monthly basis.
Local singers and those interested in singing and/or listening to songs, are encouraged to attend. The sessions will be led, initially, by Gaelic Singer Margaret Stewart, who is currently the ‘Musician in Residence’ at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, with help and support from members of the community. It is hoped, if the singing sessions prove popular and successful, that they will continue to be run by members of the group. Those attending are encouraged to bring local songs to share. Songs may also be taught during these sessions, if there is enough interest. It is hoped that the event will take the form of a ‘tigh cheilidh’, with an informal and relaxed social atmosphere. A general invitation is issued to young and old throughout the district.
