Subject: Ranganna Gaeilge in Atlanta

Ba mhise Karen Feick, ach is mise Karen Donn anois. Ta ranganna Gaeilge anseo fos. Sílim go bhfuil Colm in Éirinn anois. Is mise an múinteoir. Tá na ranganna leis Conradh na Gaeilge. Bionn ranganna ann do thoisnitheoirí. Buaileann an t-ard rang gach seachtain chun Gaeilge a labhairt. Beidh deireidh seachtain Gaeltacht ann sa bhliana 2000.

I was Karen Feick, but I am Karen Donn now. There are Gaelic language classes running here still. I think Colm is in Ireland now. I am the teacher. The classes are run by Conradh na Gaeilge. There are classes for beginners. The advanced class meets each week to speak Gaelic. There will be a "Gaeltacht weekend" in the year 2000.

Old info from about 1992:

Irish classes are available in Atlanta, Georgia at beginning and advanced levels. The two classes are coordinated with each other. The advanced class is taught by Colm Ó Dulacháin, a native speaker, and the beginning class is taught by Karen Fieck, one of his students. The beginning class works from various books and tapes. In some cases, tapes that are already available have been supplemented by tapes made by Colm. The beginning class meets on Mondays from 7:30 to 8:30 pm and is free. I started in it this past Monday, and the class had already been going for a few weeks. I don't know how long it runs or how often they start new classes. Colm says he takes new students into the advanced class after they have been working with Karen for a while.
