Subject: Scots Gaelic Class in Boston
From: Cliff McGann

Howdy Folks, I Just wanted to let those in the Boston area who might be interested know that a Six Week Crash Course in the Scottish Gaelic Language is being taught through Middlesex Community College in Bedford.

I'm the instructor and the class relies heavily on folksong as teaching aid. Anyone interested in learning Scots Gaelic songs will find the class beneficial. I did my BA in Celtic Studies in Nova Scotia and it was there that I first began learning the language. I also have an MA in Folklore from Memorial University of Newfoundland. My goal wit is to get a more active Scottish Gaelic Society going in the Boston area as its long overdue.

For more info on this class as well as my Irish/Scottish Folklore Class see: Middlesex Community College > Community Education > language classes
or phone 1-800-818-3434

Thomas Leigh teaches our class out of him home in Dorchester ....the only class operating now is the advanced ( all the beginners dropped out except us)...it is from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm on alternate Tues...the next class is Jan 30th. You have his address on your site. They are looking for beginners. [...] If you know if the Chelmsford class is still going, let us know. We tried to call them as Chelmsford is closer than Dorchester.

[...] The Boston Language Institute offers private lessons in Scottish Gaelic or Irish Gaelic. Unfortunately there are no classes available for Scottish Gaelic because the demand is very low. So the lady I spoke with says, and that is a shame. However, they will have classes every once in a while. It takes only three interested people in order to start a class. The classes are quite expensive: they run about $695.00 for 10 wks. The private lessons are $60.00 an hour. [...] Here is the address:
