First things first - the most common way of asking someone how they are is to
say: Ciamar a tha sibh? - How are you? |

Gaelic uses more than one word for you. Sibh
is the polite word for you - to be used with strangers, those older than
yourself and people in authority. It is also used when talking to more
than one person, or groups of people. Note also that, if you want to greet someone very casually, you can just say hallo! or hai! (pronunced very much like the English hello or hi). |
