Ruigsinneachd (sa Bheurla)

Sabhal Mòr Ostaig is commited to making its website accessible to serve the needs of the widest possible audience. We aim for allowing anyone and everyone with an interest in Gaelic access our online resources without problems.

Effort has been made to make this website validate with the W3C's HTML5 validator. Small exceptions were made as required because of the dynamic nature of the HTML5 standard.

The website was also validated for accessiblity using achecker.ca to to the WCAG2 AA level standard.

Text and colours

Adequate contrast has been used to make the layout readable. The font size and the layout is fully adjustable both up and down.
If you would like to learn more about how to enlarge text or generally how to use the accessibility functions of your browser, please visit the BBC's My Web My Way.

Alternatives for images

Wherever appropriate, textual alternatives for graphics have been provided.

A range of platforms and browsers

The site has tested with a range of modern browsers, as well as small screens and low resolutions, and delivers its contents reliably on them.

The website is fully usable with scripts disabled. Where certain features cannot work without JavaScript (e.g. Course Finder), usable alternatives are provided.

Remaining barriers

It is difficult to perform a manual check of all pages in such a large website. We acknowledge the shortcomings of the automated accessibility checking we used. We did not do testing with users, and did not test for a wide range of accessibility aids, rather we tried to follow accessiblity best practice to the best of our abilities. The website was built with the WCAG guidelines in mind but, inevitably, there will be mistakes. Please let us know about them and we will do our best to correct them.

Please do not hesitate to contact the web editor if you have any problems using the site, or have any suggestions on improving it, with regard to accessibility and otherwise.
