Perhaps
it may be suggested, that it were better to set up charity schools for
the Welsh people in the English language, which, to be sure, will be altogether
as edifying as preaching English sermons to Welsh congregations, that understand
no tongue but their own. Shall we be more concerned for the propagation
of the English language, than for the salvation of our people ? Alas, Sir,
must thet not be taught in things which concern their salvation, till they
be instructed in a language they do not as yet understand.
