CAMPUS COMMUNITY
Sabhal Mòr Ostaig was founded on the principle of being part of the local and wider community. It has, through the years, taken its place in the hearts of communities, groups and individuals; as the National Centre for Gaelic Language and Cultur, UHI partner and an internationally renowned research facility.
The College has strong ties with the local primary school, Bun-sgoil Shlèite, and also with the Gaelic medium childcare facility, Fàs Mòr.
The College’s activities are greatly enhanced by the co-operative links within the wider Gaelic community and it is home to a number of creative and cultural projects such as Tobar an Dualchais, Ainmean Àite na h-Alba and the multimedia and design company Cànan Graphics Studio.
Sabhal Mòr Ostaig plays a leading role in the promotion of the Gaelic arts and culture and is also a venue for the local arts promoter, SEALL, which host a large variety of music, art and theatre events throughout the year across the whole of Skye.
International links are provided via the College’s Exchange Programme which offers a fantastic opportunity to spend a semester with universities in Nova Scotia, Canada or Ireland.
