Classic Cèilidh Tunes with Iseabail Strachan: beginning 23 October 2023

Classes will run for an hour and a half through Zoom from 7:00pm to 8:30pm on Mondays over eight consecutive weeks.

Come and learn tunes for dancing on the box with Iseabail Strachan. We will learn waltzes, marches, jigs and reels and we will work towards putting sets of tunes together for dancing.

The course will involve learning tunes by ear, and we will also use sheet music for those who find sight reading easier.

Although this course is primarily for box players at a level where they are able to play a selection of tunes with both hands, players of any other melody instruments are very welcome.

About the tutor, Iseabail Strachan

Iseabail Strachan is an accordionist from Breakish in Skye. She attended the Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music in Plockton for three years as a teenager and nowadays performs at ceilidhs, concerts and events in the local area along with the Breakish Ceilidh Band and with other musicians. She sees herself as a community musician and is driven to help connect people through shared culture, heritage and the Gaelic language. She has been teaching the box to people of all ages and abilities for twenty years.
