The course consists of nine classes over three days (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) with three online classes each day at 10.00 – 11.00, 11.30 – 12.30 and 13.30 – 14.30, all delivered via Zoom. Where possible, classes will be limited to 8 students.
Steeped in the music of the West Highlands, Ingrid Henderson is one of the finest instrumentalists in Scotland today. With expert skills in musical accompaniment, arrangement and directing, Ingrid is highly in demand as a tutor and performer.
Ingrid will be teaching a unique, three-day, online piano accompaniment course as part of the summer short-course programme online. Solo repertoire will be covered. The focus of the course, however, will be on how to create arrangements for different styles of traditional melodies and Gaelic songs, and how to improvise and join in confidently with other musicians and singers. Students must have their own keyboard and have some piano playing experience. This course will be taught by ear but with music and notes at the end.
