2019 writing competition in memory of Niamh Henderson



Sabhal Mòr Ostaig is launching its second  writing competition In memory of Niamh Henderson from Mallaig, who died suddenly in 2017. Niamh was a first year student at the College, taking the Gaelic and Communication course. 

The competition is open to all college and university students in Scotland, and entrants will be expected to write a Gaelic short story of 500-2000 words on the theme of “Uamhas”, which in English could be Horror, Dread, Worry.

The winner will receive a prize of £200, as well as a trophy donated by Niamh’s family. Short stories for the competition will have to be submitted by the end of April and the award will be bestowed at the College’s annual Graduation ceremony in October.
