fifth live expert session in the Gaelic Education Hub of the Centre for Teaching Excellence with Emily Barnes
Our fifth live expert session in the Gaelic Education Hub of the Centre for Teaching Excellence will be an opportunity to hear from Emily Barnes, Assistant Professor of Language Education in the School of Education in Trinity College Dublin.
Dyslexia is a complex learning difference that extends beyond reading and spelling and is shaped by cognitive, linguistic, and environmental factors. This seminar explores dyslexia in immersion and dual-language education contexts, with particular attention to how bilingualism and writing systems influence literacy development. It also considers practical approaches to identifying dyslexia and linking assessment to responsive support. Evidence-informed strategies and assistive technologies are discussed, alongside potential areas for practitioner-led research in Gàidhlig-medium Education.
The session will be delivered in English.
