Christine Primrise with the song ‘Àite Mo Ghaoil’ (‘The Place of My Heart’), composed by Rob Calum Macleod from Garenin on the Isle of Lewis. Here is a video from Dr Decker Forrest, Course Leader of the BA Gaelic and Traditional Music programme.  Here’s how the idea came to him:

Hello eveyone! Spending a lot of time at the house recently has made me think about the music connected with ‘home’ – wherever and whatever that means to each of us. I remembered a 2/4 march named for the village I stay in, Camuscross, in the south of Skye. It was co-written by the great piper, Allan MacDonald and my neighbour Graeme MacKenzie – a wonderful singer, song writer and guitarist – and published in Allan’s first collection of tunes (The Moidart Collection). I dusted the pipes off and played it here, along with a little slow tune I made recently and named for the beautiful area of coastline where I happen to be standing during the recording with Camuscross behind me:’Àrd Snaosaig’.

Where is’home’ for you? What composers, songs and tunes are connected to it? Why not tell us, make a video and share it? #PuirtBhonDachaigh (Tunes From Home)
