Scottish Government Funding Received for Streap: Postgraduate Certificate in Gaelic Medium Education

Sabhal Mòr Ostaig are delighted to announce they have received funding of £65,000 from the Scottish Government to run the Streap programme next academic year.

Streap is a Master’s Level postgraduate certificate in Gaelic Medium Education.  The programme is aimed at Gaelic speaking GTCS registered teachers (nursery, primary or secondary) who are seeking Gaelic medium education CLPL, or those who are currently in English medium education and who wish to further develop their skills, knowledge and understanding in order to teach in Gaelic medium education.

Recruitment for the next intake of Streap (September 2020) has now started. The programme is mainly delivered online, with three face-to-face meetings in Glasgow and regular telephone tutorials. It is delivered through the medium of Gaelic and allows practitioners to extend their knowledge and understanding of the theory and research behind Gaelic medium education, while at the same time developing their Gaelic language skills and understanding of Gaelic grammar.

Streap is run in partnership between Sabhal Mòr Ostaig and the University of Aberdeen, with funding from the Scottish Government.  All the costs of attendance on Streap, plus any travel and teaching supply costs, are met by this funding.

Further information on the programme is available at: http://www.smo.uhi.ac.uk/gd/cursaichean/streap  or by contacting Anne Thirkell, Programme       Co-ordinator ath.smo@uhi.ac.uk
