The collection of the Rev. Donald MacNicol (1735-1802), minister of Lismore, is considered one of the most significant Gaelic collections ever brought together. Until very recently, a large part of it was missing, leaving considerable gaps especially in MacNicol’s collection of songs. This talk aims to give a first impression of the reunified collection, with a closer look at the song manuscripts within it.
