Innes Watson
Profile
Innes Watson, from Glasgow, reared in the Scottish Borders now living in Lochalsh, is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist with at least twenty-one years of contemporary and traditional Scottish music, performance, recording, teaching and producing behind him. Growing up among very supportive musical surroundings has encouraged an extremely eclectic mix of skills, abilities, interests and accolades that combine to make Innes one of the most highly regarded and sought-after musicians in Scotland today.
He taught at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (having graduated from there with a Bachelor of Arts in Scottish Music, 2006) and is a firm favourite for adult and youth learning organisations up and down the UK, Ireland and further afield. He has appeared on nearly 50 albums released in Scotland in the last 15 years and has worked with some of the most notable performers in the country. In 2011 at 22 years old he won the title of “Instrumentalist of the Year” at the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards, a title he has lived up to ever since.
Innes also teaches at The National Centre for Excellence in Traditional Music in Plockton, plays with Scottish Legends the Peatbog Faeries, tours with Duncan Chisholm, writes strings for Will McNicol and his own string quartet “InnoTet” and tours with Rory Matheson as InnoDuo.
