This talk discusses an ongoing, collaborative effort to assist people interested to learn and research in Early Modern Irish and Classical Gaelic (c. 1200–1650). It will focus on Léamh.org, a free and publicly accessible web-based project that makes available a basic grammar, selections of texts with translation and analysis, a dedicated Early Modern Irish glossary, and a paleography primer and quiz. Features-in-progress will also be discussed, notably a “game” for learning grammar. Effort will also be made to share some experiences, strategies, and challenges that have emerged in the course of running this broadly collaborative project and working to sustain and grow it over time.
