COURSE CONTENT

Are you interested in the history, folklore, and Gaelic heritage of your own area? Do you want to understand more about the world of the Gaels in past centuries?

This year, we are delighted to offer you the opportunity to take part in the module, Bailtean is Iomairean, at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig.

How did the Highlanders survive in the old days? What were their houses, animals, and landscape like? What changes have come to their world through the centuries? What sites did they leave that we can still see in our own lives today?

With historical accounts, songs, the objects themselves, and the latest scholarship, you will find modern, interesting and attractive perspectives on the world and the extraordinary story of the Gaelic people over the past three hundred years.

If you are already interested in the songs, music, and folklore of the Gaels, the course will add to your knowledge and in the world as it was.

If you currently teach in a Gaelic school, you could take this course as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to expand and refresh your knowledge of Gaelic culture and history.

WHEN DOES THE COURSE BEGIN?

The course will be delivered over the whole year, every fortnight, starting the week of the 21st of October, on a day and at a time agreed upon among the students according to their own needs.

We aim for the course seminars to take place on a weekday and at a time that suits all the students as a group.

You will be warmly welcomed: you will never look at the Highlands the same way again!
