University of Minnesota professor to deliver lecture at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig

Professor Diane J. Tedick from the University of Minnesota will deliver a lecture this month at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, entitled ‘Reflections on Immersion Teacher Preparation and Professional Development’.

This presentation will describe a new post-graduate pre-service elementary teacher preparation program that focuses on immersion education and an in-service professional development program for already licensed and practicing immersion teachers. It will offer reflections on the hybrid (face-to-face and online) nature of the programs particularly from a pedagogical perspective. Specifically it will point to the benefits that can be observed in online/hybrid teacher education as well as the challenges that exist and how some of those challenges have been addressed. The presentation will also include a brief description of findings from a study on in-service immersion teacher perspectives of online learning.

The lecture will be given on Thursday 21 June in Seòmar Shomhairle, Ionad Iain Nobail at 3:30pm and is open to the public.
