Staffin Pupil Wins First Prize in Art Competition

Isla MacLeod, a pupil at Staffin Primary School, has won first prize in a competition organised by Sabhal Mòr Ostaig UHI. Children in Gaelic-medium primary schools and Gaelic-medium units were invited to design a Christmas card and almost 450 entries were submitted. Isla, who is in Primary 6, received a digital camera and some copies of her winning design as a Christmas card, while the school was given a cheque for £150.

Erin MacMillan, a Primary 3 pupil from Condorrat Primary School in Cumbernauld was awarded second prize and received an art set. Lisa Moyes who works in the College’s marketing department at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, commented: “We were delighted to receive entries from schools all over Scotland and the quantity and quality of them made it very difficult to choose the winning designs.

We would like to congratulate Isla and Erin and also thank all the pupils and schools who sent us pictures – the response was excellent.”Staffin Pupil Wins First Prize in Art Competition
