Graduate Placement Scheme 2011/12: Employment opportunities for three graduates.
Comunn na Gàidhlig (CnaG) has announced that it is looking for graduates to fill three newly established posts. The posts have been established as part of the 20011/12 Graduate Placement Scheme. The Scheme, which is funded by Bòrd na Gàidhlig, is aimed at Gaelic-speaking graduates who wish to go on to work in areas of Gaelic development. The three newly established posts are located in Stornoway, Sleat, Skye and Inverness; working with Acair Ltd, Sabhal Mòr Ostaig and Comann nam Pàrant respectively. These three posts, in addition to a post recently filled at Pròiseact nan Ealan, mean there are four new entrants on the Scheme this year.
Head of Gaelic Usage at Bòrd na Gàidhlig David Boag said:’This is an extremely successful scheme and I’m very happy that graduates have this great opportunity. It is essential that there are job oppertunities for new graduates and that they are able to help with languge and economic developments, both of which are very important and have a strong connection.’
Eilean Green, who is on a year-long placement with MG ALBA said:’The CnaG Graduate Placement Scheme has been extremely beneficial to me and, as a result of my placement on the Scheme, has provided me with many wonderful opportunities. It can be very difficult for young graduates like me, who have little experience in the work place, to get work and it is very important that CnaG offers year-long placements to graduates to help them both develop their skills and gain confidence in the work place. I am so grateful to both CnaG and MG ALBA for this opportunity and I would thoroughly recommend the Graduate Placement Scheme to other graduates.’
