New Director for National Heritage Project



Floraidh Forrest has been appointed as the new Director of Tobar Dualchais/Kist o Riches.  The national project has been running at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig for 13 years in partnership with organisations and archives such as Edinburgh University’s School of Scottish Studies, the National Trust for Scotland and BBC Alba.

Chair of the project, Donnie Munro, said:’We are delighted to welcome Floraidh Forrest to this exciting post, knowing that she brings a deep interest, a passion and commitment to the programme’s work. Tobar an Dualchais/Kist O Riches, is a cultural heritage resource of immense national and international importance and Floraidh will now have the opportunity to build on the wonderful legacy achieved by the outgoing Director, Mairead MacDonald, who led the programme from its inception with distinction and dedication”.

Floraidh said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to apply my skills and knowledge, especially with the new technologies, to the strengthening of links with our Gaelic communities to help ensure their recordings remain as important now as they were when created.”

Tobar an Dualchais’ headquarters is at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig.
