James Lindsey




Profile

James Lindsay is a genre-bending composer, bass player & multi-instrumentalist whose music seamlessly blends diverse styles of traditional Scottish folk and contemporary music. As well as playing full time with award-winning contemporary-folk band Breabach, he regularly works as a side-man with some of Scotland’s top folk and Gaelic acts and has achieved critical acclaim as a solo artist for his debut album ‘Strand’ and latest release, ‘Torus.’

James currently teaches production, live & studio engineering on the ‘BA (HONS) Gaelic and Traditional Music’ course at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig.

Growing up in rural Aberdeenshire he moved to Glasgow in 2007 where he gained a 1st class BA Honours degree in Applied Music at Strathclyde University. He now resides in Lochalsh.
