Sabhal Mòr Ostaig lecturer elected to join The Royal Society of Edinburgh
Congratulations to Professor Hugh Cheape, senior lecturer on our MSc Material Culture and Gàidhealtachd History, who is among 91 people elected to join The Royal Society of Edinburgh this year.
The membership of ‘Scotland’s National Academy’ is chosen from across the sciences, education, the arts, business and public life to represent different subjects, and so that the Society is able to engage in national debates.
Professor Hugh Cheape of Sabhal Mòr Ostaig will be joining the RSE’s current Fellowship comprising 1,800 fellows recognised as some of the greatest thinkers, researchers and practitioners in their field, working in or with organisations in Scotland today.
The Society confirms its talents with words from 1782, the era in which it was founded: “the advancement of learning and useful knowledge”, and the Fellowship has a duty to support the Society in achieving this.
