New series of Oideas available now
Gwen MacQuarrie from Sabhal Mòr Ostaig and Iain MacDiarmaid from Telt Media have created a new series of the Gaelic education podcast Oideas. The series consists of five new programmes where Gwen MacQuarrie talks to guests who have great experience and knowledge of Gaelic education. The first series of Oideas aired last year, where experts share ideas and guidance as well as advice to anyone with an interest in education and teaching in Gaelic.
This year’s programmes are full of discussion, questions and reflection as Gwen and her guests take a look at many interesting topics including immersion education, learning Gaelic as an adult and growing a Gaelic department within an English school. Oideas is designed as a resource for Gaelic teachers and students aiming for a career in Gaelic education and for anyone else who has an interest in the subject.
Gwen, who is behind the podcast, said: “I loved talking and learning from Gaelic education experts for this second series, and I hope you do too, and there is an exceptional mix of guests! I didn’t expect when I started this project in the middle of the pandemic that it would be so successful that there would be a second series.”
Oideas is the first resource of its kind for the professional development of Gaelic teachers and students.
Oideas is available both online and through all mainstream podcast apps. The project is funded by Sabhal Mòr Ostaig and the Highland Council, and you can listen to the first episode of the new series here.
