NEW FULLY FUNDED GRAMMAR MODULE FOR GAELIC TEACHERS
Sabhal Mòr Ostaig is today (Wednesday, 13 December 2023) launching a new fully funded module aimed at helping Gaelic teachers increase their confidence in the language.
This follows the National Centre for Gaelic Language and Culture’s Conference on Gaelic Education earlier this year, which brought to light the demand amongst Gaelic teachers for professional development opportunities to help with their language skills.
The module, Gaelic for Educators 1, will focus on the key language skills of reading, writing, listening and talking, and it can be completed flexibly around teachers’ busy work schedules.
Sabhal Mòr Ostaig MEd Gaelic Education Programme Leader Anne Thirkell said:
“Gaelic for Educators 1 is a CPD module for Gaelic teachers, working in primary or secondary education, who wish to increase their confidence in the language, and in particular their skills in Gaelic reading, writing, listening and speaking.
“It forms part of our MEd Gaelic Education programme, but we are now also offering this standalone module to Gaelic teachers looking for professional development opportunities specifically relating to Gaelic grammar.
“The deadline for applications is Monday, 08 January 2024, and the module will run from January until May 2024.”
For further information and how to apply, see: Gaelic for Educators 1
This module carries 20 credits at postgraduate SCQF level 11, which can be put towards the MEd Gaelic Education.
