On this three day, online course, participants will have the opportunity to learn tunes, techniques, harmonies and chords on the accordion from Caithness virtuoso Ady Harper (Jnr). Ady is in demand as a tutor and performer throughout Scotland and beyond, and he has become a firm favourite as part of the Sabhal Mòr Ostaig Short Courses’ programme.
This course will be delivered online, via Zoom, allowing you to learn from the comfort and convince of your own home. Ady welcomes all who want to improve their skills on the accordion, from beginners through to experts. The only requirement is that you need to have an accordion! Ady will work with the whole group together and in short, one-to-one sessions in Zoom breakout rooms during the three day short course programme.

“Ady Harper is a talented professional tutor and his knowledge and expertise is second to none.”
“Ady is outstanding at explaining and demonstrating what it is that you need to do to become a better musician. He has a relaxed manner that makes you feel at ease. If there’s a piece of sheet music that you’re wanting or if you’re needing sheet music written out, Ady will happily oblige by using software to develop the sheet music and email it to you way before your next lesson. You’ll always have specific targets to keep you engaged with your accordion during the week so that you progress at a pace that suits your ability and lifestyle. A top class musician and a top class teacher.”
“His knowledge of music and ability to teach is helped by his calm nature and understanding of how both children and adults learn best. He is always patient and works at a comfortable pace of learning for each individual. He has a great way of building confidence in kids own ability and encourages them to engage with wider audiences on a regular basis. His knowledge of Scottish music is wide and he is highly regarded in the local community and beyond.”
