Accordion with John Carmichael

Short Courses are delighted to welcome the incredible John Carmichael as their accordion tutor for their weekend summer course Blasad Samhraidh. This will concentrate on increasing your repertoire of traditional tunes at the appropriate level as well as improving technique, chord work and use of the bass. John will stimulate and inspire you to play and perform with more confidence and power while taking on new musical challenges.                                                                                            

John is one of the best known and popular band leader/entertainers in Scotland today with many recordings to his credit. He has produced, presented and played on Television, Radio and in theatres all over the world. He was inducted into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame in 2008. Former Scottish Accordion champion, John plays regularly for the Queen at Balmoral Castle and has toured with many of Scotland’s top artists Jimmy Shand, Andy Stewart, Kenneth McKellar, Calum Kennedy and others. He has adjudicated on many occasions at the All Scotland Accordion Championship as well as the National Mod and the Musselburgh Festival.

So come along for a weekend cèilidh and a bit of craic!

Participants should be of intermediate level.
