Piano Accordion with Mairearad GreenSTART: 21 August 2017
END: 25 August 2017
COST (STUDENT): £175
Growing up in the village of Achiltibuie in the North West of Scotland, Mairearad is known for her deft and lyrical accordion style, her dexterous piping and her memorable compositions. Many of Mairearad ‘s tunes are fast becoming staples in sessions throughout Scotland, and further afield, with “Maggie West’s Waltz” and “Dram Behind the Curtain” amongst the favourites.
Also known to always be smiling, with a very positive and encouraging approach, Mairearad will inspire students to develop their own style and confidence. Throughout the week students will learn new tunes focusing on technique and arrangements, there will be opportunities for one-to-one tuition and students will also be given guidance on how to approach a new composition of their own.
This course is suitable for intermediate and advanced players and tunes will be taught by ear and also with sheet music. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own instrument and a recording device.
There’s space for up to 10 people on this course so please book early to ensure your place!
Mairearad regularly performs alongside multi-instrumentalist Anna Massie, creating “music much more than the sum of just two parts” (The Scotsman) and she has also previously toured with Eddi Reader, Karine Polwart, The Poozies, The Unusual Suspects, Box Club, and Tunebook with Ross Ainslie and Simon Bradley.
