More about the tutor:
Involved in many aspects of traditional music, Lochaber based harper and pianist Ingrid Henderson is a ”musician of quite outstanding calibre, a virtuoso in terms of sensibility”. Ingrid has over twenty years experience performing, teaching and recording traditional music appearing with the likes of Cliar, Glenfinnan Ceilidh Band, Blazin Fiddles & singers, Anne Martin & Margaret Stewart. She is principalharp tutor at the National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music and also runs Old Laundry Productions, a studio/music production company based in Glenfinnan. Here is a video of Ingrid playing the tune ‘Eilean Fhiannan’ composed by Charlie MacFarlane for St Finan’s Isle, or the Green Isle, which sits on Loch Shiel, Moidart and has been a Christian burial ground since the days of St Finan (a Columban-trained monk who died in 661 AD). Alasdair Grant also put lyrics to the melody a few years ago, so some might also know the tune as ’S truagh nach robh mi comhla riut’.
