1-DAY WORKSHOP IN VOCAL TECHNIQUE
Whether you’re a singer, actor, public speaker, or just curious about how the voice works, a workshop in Complete Vocal Technique is for you! The technique will help your ability and confidence in order to perform in front of an audience, deliver a business presentation or speak to a group, or indeed give a lecture or after dinner speech.
Complete Vocal Technique is the culmination of renowned Danish voice researcher Cathrine Sadolin’s 25 years of experience in working with the voice. The technique has the backing of speech therapists and ENT doctors, such as Dr Julian McGlashan from Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, as a proven method of producing all the sounds the human voice can make in a HEALTHY way.
In CVT, all sounds are considered valuable; restrictive ‘sound ideals’ are removed to allow the singer/speaker to make the artistic choices they wish. CVT includes tools to perform healthily all the sounds in the voice that have been encountered over years of acoustic and anatomical research, including ‘rough’-sounding vocal techniques, like distortion.
In this workshop, you will have the chance to deepen your understanding of the voice, work in an encouraging group dynamic on vocal technique, ask any burning questions you might have and also enjoy a taster one-to-one lesson (15-20 mins app), helping you get on track with your vocal and performance goals. The workshop will be facilitated by Scottish born and raised but London-based voice coach and freelance BBC broadcaster Michael Hill.
Michael Hill is also a multilinguist and experienced in teaching Gaelic language and regularly teaches on SMO Short Courses. This workshop will take place at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig’s state of the art Broadcast Studio Skyespace and include both Gaelic and English where applicable but neither language is a requirement to attend! As this is the first course of its kind in Skye, the fee for this workshop has been set at a special introductory discount rate.
The workshop will run from 10am until 4pm with an hour for lunch.
