This course is ideal for intermediate learners who wish to improve their conversation skills. The course is tutored by Muriel Fisher, whose fun and light-hearted approach to teaching makes learning Gaelic a relaxed and natural experience.
The week combines class room based conversation sessions and short excursions around different areas of Skye and Lochalsh, learning new vocabulary from the local surroundings. Conversation sessions recap all the new vocabulary learnt along the way and practise them using different conversation skills. The sorts of topics discussed during the course might include nature, social interests and daily island life amongst others. It is intended that students will build up a repertoire of new words and phrases which will give students the confidence to have fuller and more detailed conversations.
Course participants are expected to be comfortable walking about 1 mile with ease as the excursions are a key aspect of the course. Lunch, Dinner and Refreshments are not included in the price of the course, although breakfast is included if you are staying in our college accommodation. Muriel Fisher was brought up in Skye with Gaelic as her first language. Whilst teaching at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig she also teaches Gaelic in The University of Arizona and around the world.
