The course consists of nine classes over three days (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) with three online classes each day at 10.00 – 11.00, 11.30 – 12.30 and 13.30 – 14.30, all delivered via Zoom. Where possible classes will be limited to 8 students.
For our 2020 Online program we are very excited to welcome back the very talented Iain Macfarlane.
Study West Highland style fiddling with this traditional music stalwart. This course will cover a range of repertoire from Gaelic airs to pipe reels & the stories & folklore behind the tunes. Teaching will be by ear with music given at the end. Recordings can also be made.
Players should be Intermediate & above.
About Iain:
Born and bred in the historical West Highland village of Glenfinnan, Iain MacFarlane has been immersed in traditional music and song all his days. Best known for his performances in Blazin’ Fiddles and Glenfinnan Ceilidh Band Iain has also played with the likes of Boys of the Lough and Phil Cunningham as well as stints with local “greats” such as Fearchar Macrae and Fergie Macdonald. Teaching has been a strong feature of Iain’s work over the years and is currently principle fiddle tutor at The National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music at Plockton. Iain also runs ‘Old Laundry Productions’, a recording studio/music production company which has been successful in producing award winning CDs such as Julie Fowlis ‘Dual”, Duncan Chisholm’s ‘Farrar’ and Kathleen MacInnes’s ‘Cillebride’. Iain recently released his debut solo album ‘Gallop to Callop’ in 2016.
