TOBAR AN DUALCHAIS: ‘CREATIVE CONNECTIONS’ 

This three-day online short course led by Dr Mairi McFadyen and Raghnaid Sandilands is for creative people (visual artists, writers, musicians, budding folklorists and creative educators) who want to learn more about Tobar an Dualchais, why the material was collected and by whom, and how and why it is of value today.

This class will be taught through the medium of Gaelic and so is suitable for intermediate and fluent speakers. The course will provide a wealth of idioms and vocabulary that will deliver conversational fluency to take students to greater communicative competence.

These online evening classes are aimed at intermediate learners. With focus on a different subject each week, these classes provide an opportunity to expand vocabulary and explore idiomatic phrases, whilst building confidence in your use of the language. There will be a good opportunity to discuss and use language by talking about everyday topics.

This course is ideal for learners who understand Gaelic at an upper intermediate level and who can hold a conversation using more detailed structures. As part of the course, participants will gain an understanding of grammar, have opportunities to practise conversation skills, learn new language techniques and relevant vocabulary.

IPA WITH ROB PAINTER

an excellent opportunity to study enough phonetics so that students can transcribe and pronounce Gaelic words phonetically. This is a great skill to have in order to learn new Gaelic vocabulary, to notice small differences in pronunciation across Gaelic dialects, and to build confidence in speaking Gaelic.

This Gaelic conversation course has been created for those who have already reached a level of competency in the language and who have completed at least up to Level 8 of our Gaelic Short Courses (or equivalent), but who wish to further hone their skills and take their proficiency to the next level.

This course is ideal for those who have recently started learning Gaelic, or who have previously done some Gaelic.  In this level, you will be introduced to new prepositions, such as ‘anns’ and ‘às’; prepositional pronouns, such as ‘aig’ and ‘ann’; and comparative structures.

In this gentle exercise class we will practice a mix of yoga and Pilates exercises to strengthen and stretch our body in a healthy way. This class will be bilingual, suitable for Gaelic learners.
