Katherine Macleod will be teaching an exciting weekend course in traditional Gaelic and Scots song. Throughout the weekend we will be looking at songs from all different areas of Scotland. The songs will reflect different aspects of the land and cultures. Though such a small country the language, music and culture varies so greatly. We will also do some work on harmony and arrangement. Just bring your voice, no experience is necessary and all teaching material will be given out. It may be handy to record the songs on a mobile phone or Dictaphone.
Katherine Macleod is Scottish musician and tutor from East Kilbride. Her main talents are in flute, whistle and singing. She has been involved in music from an early age, and started her musical journey singing in the East Kilbride Gaelic choir, aged nine. Katherine then went on to Complete a BA in Scottish music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2010 and has been performing and teaching extensively since then. She is passionate about teaching and sharing songs and is delighted to be coming to Sabhal Mòr Ostaig to teach the weekend course in Gaelic and Scots song.
