Sabhal Mòr Ostaig offers a unique and innovative Master’s Degree in Material Culture and Gàidhealtachd History. Through the course, you will construct ground-breaking perspectives on Gaelic culture, economy, and society, as well as on the history of the Highlands, through a study of the region’s material culture, landscape, and environment – all through the medium of the language of the people themselves.
The MSc is taken by Professor Hugh Cheape, who enjoys an international reputation as ethnographer and historian of the Scottish Highlands, as well as being an expert bagpiper, and Dr Domhnall Uilleam Stiùbhart, well-known for his work on Gaelic history, literature, and folklore. This part-time course lasts three years, allowing students to study by distance-learning.
Duration: 1 year for Postgraduate Certificate, 2 years for Postgraduate Diploma and 3 years for Masters of Science Degree
